Murum Dam – TURBINES ARE DEFECTIVE! Posted: 22 Jul 2014 07:37 AM PDT The Online investigated portal Sarawak Report has revealed that, the Murum Dam turbines have been tested as "not suitable to install or operate". The villagers in Murum and Sarawak were not aware of the problem's severity before the information was relaeased by the SR report. We here interview the journalist Clare Rewcastle Brown and lawyer activist Abun Sui to tell us the dangerous situation in Murum Dam. |
July 22nd a significant day for Sarawakians Posted: 21 Jul 2014 06:59 AM PDT July 22nd marks Sarawak independence day! On this historic day RFS conducts interviews with STAR Chairperson Jeffery Kittingan and PKR Baram Chief Roland Engan on the topic of independence. Do Sarawakians really want independence from Malaysia? We also interview DAP Chairman Chong Chieng Jen on his statement that DAP will pull out from the state Pakatan Rakyat if PAS failed to make its plan for hudud law implementation clear. We hear from PAS and PKR too. Stay tuned! Namun ketamakkan pemimpin-pemimpin sarawak menyebabkan mereka kaum penan menjadi mangsa empangan Murum. Mereka hanya dibayar pampasan perpindahan RM23K (sekali bayar) dan elaun RM850 sahaja sebulan selama 5 tahun. Tuntutan asal mereka supaya setiap keluarga dibayar RM500K tidak diendahkan kerajaan BN Sarawak. |

Posted: 17 Jul 2014 04:58 AM PDT Today, in an exclusive report RFS reveals how Sarawak Energy are transporting children to school in Murum, crowded in the back of open pick up trucks. Photos show how up to 20 children aged under 12 are squeezed together without protection or security at the back of four-wheel drive vehicles, using the logging road with about half hour car ride. Senang Kallang, a Penan from Metalun Murum says the situation is clearly endangering the Murum kids is dangerous and far from the promised 'progress' advertised by SEB before the move to the resettlement zone. Also, we interview Gabriel Atong, Chairman of NCR Action Committee who informs that Punan people in the area will file a case against 10 oil palm plantations, paper wood and logging companies in the Sibu High Court on 21st July 2014. Two giant logging companies, which are in their list, are Ta Ann and the Samling Group. According to Atong, the area claimed is 43,000 hectares and Harrison Ngau solicitor firm will represent Punan people on this case. Lastly, commentator Christina Suntai to explains the meaning of cronyism and nepotism, and how they have become the norm in Sarawak in recent years. |
