Bekas jurugambar The New <b>Sarawak</b> Tribune TH Lu meninggal dunia

KUCHING: Bekas jurugambar akhbar The New Sarawak Tribune, Lu Kheng Heng atau lebih dikenali sebagai TH Lu, 62, meninggal dunia semalam pada jam 3 pagi selepas bertarung nyawa akibat kanser prostat.

Mendiang meninggalkan seorang balu, Liew Fang Lim dan dua anak masing-masing masih belajar di institusi pengajian tinggi.

Lu berkhidmat sebagai jurugambar di akhbar berkenaan sejak 1986 hingga 2013 selain memulakan karier sebagai jurugambar seawal 1973 dengan beberapa akhbar bahasa Cina tempatan.

Mendiang dikenali sebagai 'Uncle Lu' oleh beberapa rakan pemberita kerana sifatnya yang peramah, turut terpaksa bersara lebih awal dua tahun kerana penyakit itu.

Mendiang ditempatkan di Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng sejak semalam (Ahad) sehingga Selasa bagi memberi peluang kepada ahli keluarga dan rakan-rakan memberi penghormatan terakhir.

Mendiang akan dibawa ke Tokong Buddha Siniawan untuk dibakar.

Curtin <b>Sarawak</b> making presence at SCAT Fair, MARA Karnival <b>...</b>

MIRI: Members of the public who want more information on Curtin University, Sarawak (Curtin Sarawak) and its courses can meet its representatives at two major upcoming fairs – the Sarawak Career and Training (SCAT) Fair 2014, and the nationwide Karnival Pendidikan Mara.

The SCAT Fair is from March 15-16 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from 9am to 6pm daily. It is organised by the Human Resource Development Unit in the Chief Minister's Office in collaboration with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas) and Yayasan Sarawak.

The fair will give Form 5 and Form 6 school leavers the opportunity to learn all about academic and technical courses relevant to a range of industries, including the aviation, aircraft mechanics, banking, manufacturing, oil and gas, hospitality, construction, engineering, maritime, plantation, logging and automotive industries.

The Karnival Pendidikan MARA, meanwhile, will be held from March 15 until April 27.

It will kick off at Premiera Hotel, Menara MARA (in Kuala Lumpur), from March 15-17; Halal Park Tambun, Kawasan Industri MARA, Ulu Kinta (Perak) from March 22-23; Stadium Sultan Muhammad ke IV, Kota Bharu (Kelantan) from March 26-27; and Suria Sabah, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) from March 29-30.

Curtin Sarawak will continue to be represented at the Karnival Pendidikan MARA throughout April at the following locations: Dewan Majlis Bandaraya Alor Setar (MBAS) in Kedah (April 5 – 6); Sunway Carnival Convention Centre, Seberang Perai in Penang (April 19-20); and Mydin MITC, Ayer Keroh in Melaka (26-27).

At the fairs, the Curtin Sarawak representatives, comprising recruitment officers and academics, will counsel students on courses offered, entry requirements and application procedures, besides scholarships and study loans available.

Students will also be able to find out more about its campus facilities and student life on campus, which includes participation in its student leadership and community outreach programmes, and its over 30 academic and social clubs.

Curtin Sarawak offers foundation courses leading to its Bachelor degrees in Commerce, Business Administration, Commerce, Arts (Mass Communication/Borneo Studies), Engineering, Science and Technology, and Intensive English Programme to help students meet its English entry requirements.

It also offers postgraduate programmes by coursework or research in a variety of business and engineering disciplines, including Project Management, Policy Sciences, Accounting, Business Law and taxation, Economics and Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Geology.
