Air passengers down in South Kalimantan

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan:  South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the number of air passengers, especially those leaving through airports in this province in April 2014 fell compared to March 2014, Antaranews reported.

"The number of air passengers departing through the airport in South Kalimantan in April 2014 recorded 144,726, down 5.41 percent from the previous month," said Head of local BPS Dyan Pramono Effendi here on Monday.

He said air passengers departing through Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin in April 2014 recorded 137, 531, down 5.36 percent compared to March 2014.

The decrease also occurred in passengers departing from Warukin Airport (236 km north of Banjarmasin) Tabalong District and Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport, Kotabaru District, and Basujud Airport, Tanah Bumbu District.

"The decline in the number of passengers departing from Warukin 0.30 percent, 8.45 percent in Gusti Syamsir and Basujud 0.12 per cent," he said.

The number of departing passengers through Warukin 332 people, Gt Syamsir Alam (300 km east Banjarmasin) 5,190 and Basujud Airport (260 km east Banjarmasin) recorded 1,673.

Banjar to cooperates with Pesantren to bost APK

MARTAPURA, South Kalimantan: Banjar District Education Agency will cooperate with the Islamic boarding school (locally known as pesantren) administrators to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (APK) in secondary level education, Antaranews reported.

"We have prepared a draft cooperation agreement with pesantren is expected in the near future to be realized," said Head of Banjar Education Agency Gusti Ruspan Noor here on Sunday.

He said the cooperation is for the whole Islamic boarding school. Through such cooperation is expected secondary education APK in Banjar to be increased, so as to achieve the national target of APK 97.00 in 2020.

Banjar secondary education APK reached 88.60 in 2013, up from APK in 2012 amounted to 88.49. It is expected that the number increases next year.

According to him , the participation rate may actually be higher if the number of secondary school graduates who continue their education at Islamic boarding school included in the calculation of secondary education APK.

In addition to cooperating with pesantren, Banjar also adds to the construction of new school unit at secondary education level, especially vocational schools.
