BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Three local men have been arrested by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) under Criminal Law (Preventive Detention) Act, Chapter 150, for allegedly intimidating and threatening law enforcement officers, Brudirect reported.

Under the Act, individuals can be detained for a period of not more than 12 months if the Minister of Home Affairs is convinced that they were involved in criminal activities and that their detainment is necessary to ensure public safety, peace and order.

According to the RBPF, the three local men "used harmful tactics" in order to threatened officers on duty in an incident happened in November 2013. No further details were released regarding the incident.

The RBPF also said that the arrest of these individuals will serve as a reminder to the public that they should always cooperate with enforcement officers on duty. Police hoped this arrest would be an important lesson and warning to daunt similar incidents from happening in the future.
