Prime Minister Najib Razak will visit Long Silat, Baram next Monday, to celebrate Gawai symbolically in the interior of Sarawak.  To mark the occasion Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau plans to honour Najib with the title 'Balan Nyanding', meaning the greatest Orang Ulu (Kenyah) warrior. However, this has drawn a backlash in the Kenyah Community, we have learnt – James Nyurang, Headman from Long Terpalit, says Najib is not qualified to receive this native honour!

Also, the Chairman of the Bakun Community and Safety Committee Dr Elli Luhat puts his foot down over the recent statement by the Land Development Minister, James Masing, about the Bakun Trust Fund (BTF).  He tells RFS, the financial and management is not transparent and neither should this money be used towards the separate compensation expenses incurred by the later Murum Dam!

Najib akan dianugerah sebagai Balan Nyanding, bermaksud Pahlawan Orang Ulu yang paling berwibawa di Long Silat sempena Hari Gawai. Adakah dia layak? Orang Kenyah berasa Najib tidak Layak. Roland Engan juga berkata, bukan setakat itu sahaja malah perlantikan Ketua-ketua kaum yang lain, sepatutnya, temengggong, pemanca, penghulu dan ketua kampong juga harus mendapat suara akar umbi.

Dr.Ellie Luhat tidak berpuas hati dengan pengurusan Tabung Amanah Bakun di bawah kendalian TS James Jemut Masing. Sebab dikatakan tidak transperen/telus dari segi pengurusan kewangan dan cara memilih pelajar yang layak diberi bantuan. Beliau juga hairan kenapa tidak diberi peluang menganggotai TAB sedangkan beliau layak dari segi pencapaian akademik. Beliau menasihatkan pihak TAB supaya membentangkan penyata kira-kira TAB atau bakal berdepan dengan polis report yang akan beliau lakukan. Dengarkanlah…
