Tabalong have potential billions tons of limestone

TANJUNG, South Kalimantan: The head of operations of the Tabalong Mines Agency Norzain Yani said the region has the potential of 18.3 billion tons of limestone scattered in Muara Uya, Haruai, and a Bintang Ara, Antaranews reported.

"Now there are two limestone mining permit entering the production phase, CV Arraudah and PT Cahaya Mungkur Batu Bhully," said Norzain here on Wednesday.

Mining business license (IUP) for CV Arraudah covering 97 hectares located in the Sialing hamlet, Nawin Village, Subdistrict Haruai, with the potential of limestone about 458 thousand tons.

While IUP production operations of PT Cahaya Mungkur Batu Bhully only 5 hectares in Gunung Batu Buli with a potential 87 million tonnes.

"Both companies are planned to become suppliers of raw materials to the cement factory belonging to PT Conch. Besides these two locations, the same potential is also contained in Gunung Apik and Gunung Batu Kumpai, Subdistrict Jaro," said Norzain again.

Batu Kumpai Mountain itself is in the protected forest area, making it impossible to do mining. It is different if it is in other uses area (APL).

The magnitude of potential limestone in Batu Apik Mountain and Batu Kumpai, hypothetically amounted to 6.4 billion tons.
