Human life is beyond value! |
Posted: 08 May 2014 03:43 AM PDT Today, RFS addresses the issue of medical care in the rural areas. Why have we seen so many cases of medical negligence – most recently in Lawas? The PKR opposition leader Baru Bian (PKR-Ba'Kelalan) questions the inadequate standards of care and demands the government invests in trained doctors and medical officers in these badly neglected communities. And back to the education issue and whether there is a hidden religious agenda creeping into our classrooms. Recently12 Christian students were allegedly coerced into embracing the Muslim religion while a class lecture gave 10 reasons why Christians should be Muslims. Sabah Reform Party (Star) Sabah chairman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan tells RFS, that the politicizing of education has become a major problem and the school authorities must investigate this hidden agenda. Lastly, our veteran commentator, Christina Suntai highlights PKR's bid to table a Private Member's Bill to amend the state Land Code – one of their key motions during this one week allowed for the State Assembly to sit. The motion to introduce the Bill was defeated by 52 votes to 14, and out of 52 members of the Sarawak State Legislature from Barisan Nasional, 27 of them are fellow Dayaks to include James Masing, Mawan Ikom and Alfred Jabu. NCR lands owners are Dayaks! Want to know more? Stay tuned! |
Give the money back to Sarawakians! Posted: 07 May 2014 03:58 AM PDT Sarawak will making a formal demand to the federal government to increase the state's oil and gas royalty from 5% to 20%. What is ground-breaking is that this issue is being supported at last by Sarawak's ruling BN party who have adopted the platform of the opposition on this matter! State DAP Secretary Alan Ling Sie Kiong and PKR chief Baru Bian tell RFS that main issue is to question the federal government as to where the money (5%) has been going to for last 30 years? Has it conferred benefits on Sarawak or disappeared into cronies' pockets? Jofri Jaraiee, PAS Sarawak Deputy Commissioner tells RFS about the recent tragic fire incident in Ulu Merusa, Suai where a man died. He says there is no fire and rescue department nearby and people have to use the river as the water supplier, but what happens when it is the dry season? A total of 300 units of 1Malaysia plastic water tanks have been distributed to Kenawit, but people there seem so ungrateful for what the state government has done! Local man, Indai Igat, called in to talk to RFS to say that the tank is useless during the dry season. Can we blame them for their disgruntlement? Before the logging they had clean and free-flowing rivers full of fish! The headmand tells RFS that BN always asks them to be patient and keep waiting to government development projects, but these are never achieved. "The tanks cure the symptoms, not the disease!" he says! |
