‘Belia Cinta Tanah Air’ completes flag parade ceremony Posted: 19 Feb 2014 03:18 PM PST BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Thirty participants comprising of youths from the 'Belia Cinta Tanah Air', representing the four districts took part in the parade carrying the national flag in the capital yesterday, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported. The event commences with the handing over of the national flag by the Brunei-Muara District Officer, Awang Haji Jamain bin Momin to the head of the contingent, Awang Habiibullah bin Haji Mohamad Zain. The event flagged-off at the Youth Centre to the designated area – flag from the Youth Centre to Saint George's School, Saint Andrew's School, Pusar Ulak Primary School, Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC), Raja Isteri Fatimah Primary School, Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (SMJA), Mabohai Primary School, and Raja Isteri Girls Secondary School (STPRI) and concluded at the Indoor Stadium in Berakas. The appointments commences from February 1, 2014, to January 31, 2016, as stated from yesterday press release by the Ministry of Communication. The appointed Chairman of AITI is Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, and members of AITI are Awang Adi Shamsul bin Haji Sabli, Deputy Permanent Secretary (IT & eGovernment) at the Prime Minister's Office; Awang Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Performance & Compliance) at the Ministry of Finance; Dayang Hajah Rahayu binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Razak; Awang Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin, Chief Executive of AITI; Awang Haji Shahrom bin Haji Suhaimi, Acting Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, Town and Country Planning Department, Ministry of Development; and Dayang Haslina Taib, Chief Executive Officer of BAG Networks Sdn Bhd. Microsoft and itpss inked cyber security cooperation Posted: 18 Feb 2014 02:52 PM PST BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: IT Protective Security Services Sendirian Berhad (ITPSS) and global IT firm, Microsoft yesterday inked a Security Cooperation Programme (SCP), ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported. The agreement was to enhance the nation's cyber security, where both parties will work together to help the Brunei Government to address threats to the national security, economic strength and public safety more efficiently and effectively through cooperation in computer incident response, attack migration and citizen outreach. Microsoft Brunei Country Manager, Haniza Zakariya in her address at the signing ceremony said that in 2012, Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team, BruCERT, a team under ITPSS, recorded one thousand online security incidents, more than half of which are of malicious nature, and the number are expected to rise. She added that the programme is an important initiative to protect the citizens of Brunei from such threats. Meanwhile, the CEO of ITPSS, Awang Shamsul Bahri Haji Kamis highlight on the importance of obtaining and sharing information as quickly as possible when facing a cyber security threats. Signing the agreement on behalf of ITPSS was its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Awang Shamsul Bahri, while Microsoft Brunei was represented by Haniza Zakariya. Present as the guest of honour to witness the signing was the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office and Chairman of the E-Government Leadership Forum, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (R) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar. |
RBAF Celebrated Crown Prince 40th Birthday Posted: 17 Feb 2014 03:48 PM PST BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman yesterday were treated to a high-tea reception hosted by officers of the RBAF on the occasion of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's 40th birthday, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported. Accompanying Their Royal Highnesses to the reception was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik. Upon arrival at the BRIDEX Conference Hall, Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat; and the Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Md Tawih Abdullah. The reception commenced with a group photo of Their Royal Highness with senior officers of the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF. His Royal Highness then consented to sign Royal Parchment, watch a photo clip presentation and receive a photo book album entitled 'Sejambak Ristaan VII' (A Bouquet of Reminiscence), featuring a collage of photographs of His Royal Highness' visits to the MinDef and RBAF as well as working military visits abroad. Their Royal Highnesses were then introduced to four RBAF personnel from the 9th group of the International Monitoring Mission (IMT) in Mindanao who are currently on leave; four Silat athletes and a Sepak Takraw athlete who won a silver medal at the SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar; and two personnel who won first place in the General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) Match 2 at the Asean Arms Rifle Meet 2013 Championship. The event's highlight was when His Royal Highness was ushered to the stage for the birthday cake-cutting and the presentation of pesambah featuring a set of exclusive tie, button for 'Baju Melayu' (Malay traditional garment), cufflink and a tie bar. The pesambah was presented by Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Md Tawih on behalf of all the RBAF officers. A thanksgiving prayer was recited by Deputy Head of RBAF Religious Department (Ja'maat), Captain Ariffin Amit, to bless the occasion. The reception was also enlivened with Tausyeh performance and photo clip presentation. Their Royal Highness also consented to receive a "junjung ziarah" from the senior officers of MinDef and RBAF. |
