CM, walk your talk! |
Posted: 14 Apr 2014 03:59 AM PDT Today, we reflect on Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem's attack on what he calls a 'noisy minority' of environmentalists, whom he accuses of stirring up the growing resistance to the industrialisation and hydro-electric dams planned under the so-called SCORE programme, which is the pet project of Governor Taib Mahmud. "These environmentalists want you to lose your jobs" he claims. But, what jobs does he mean, counter campaigners, since local people are being excluded from jobs in these plants? And why doesn't Satem visit Baram or Bakun to listen to how people really feel, instead of blaming outsiders for their views? There is also the challenge to the economic argument made by Satem that these mega-dams will bring prosperity to the state. All the latest global research proves the exact opposite, which is that these projects are nearly always costly failures that only enrich the people able to get kickbacks from the projects. Save Rivers President, Peter Kallang also joins in the argument to condemns the way SEB flew some villagers on a blatant PR trip to China to visit mega dam there – showing the pros, he says, but hiding the cons. We also visit the issue of electricity in the state once more. The headman of Rumah Manggau, Ulu Anap moans that there is no 24 hours electrical supply. So, we ask him, why does he continue to encourage villagers to support the BN government? And what has been the impact of the MH 370 crisis on public confidence in our government? The Online media – Malaysian Insider has studied perceptions on governmental transparency over the handling of the airline tragedy. Stay tuned and do not forget to call in! 082-237191 Keratan akhbar pada hari ini menyatakan bahawa Ketua Menteri Sarawak, Tan Sri Amar Adenan mahu masyarakat minoriti menyuarakan pendapat mereka tanpa sebarang provokasi oleh ahli kaji persekitaran, dan mengalu-alukan pelabur asing dan rakyat tempatan untuk melabur dalam SCORE, tetapi sebaliknya, beliau tidak pernah turun padang terutama melawat Baram atau Bakun untuk mendengar sendiri suara dari penduduk kampung. |
