His majesty attends 14th DSA in PWTC, Malaysia Posted: 14 Apr 2014 06:34 PM PDT KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzadin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday afternoon consented to attend the 14th Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported. Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak; the Minister of Defence Malaysia, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein; the Chief of Defence Forces, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin; the Chairman of DSA, Tan Sri Asmat Kamaluddin and other Senior Officials from the Government of Malaysia. His Majesty then proceeds to view the Bell Venom Helicopter outside the PWTC building. The twin engines helicopter is armed with 70 millimetre Hydra rockets and 7.62 millimetre M240 machine guns. The first Venom helicopter was delivered to the Marines in February 2008. The Venom helicopter performs several different roles for the U.S. Marine Corps, including troop transport, medical evacuation, reconnaissance, escort and close air support. The monarch continue the tour by viewing the exhibits on display that showcasing manufacturers and distributors of defence technology equipment and weapons, missiles, tanks, fire control systems and other related technologies as well as the outdoor exhibition. The Defence Services Asia Exhibition is aimed at the development of defence and security industries. The exhibition is one of the five biggest Defence Exhibition in the world and is open until Thursday, April 17, 2014, with more than one thousand companies from 45 countries are participating in the event. During the visit to the exhibition, His Majesty also consented to watch the Army Dynamic Display, where a hostage rescue demonstration was performed by the Counter Terrorist Unit of the Special Forces Group of the Malaysian Army. This demonstration reflected the alertness and readiness of the army personnel in facing various challenges. The Malaysian Armed Forces, like other defence agencies, play a vital role in maintaining peace, harmony and security of the country. Among the programmes arranged in conjunction with the exhibition are a Defence and Security Forum 2014, a round-table discussion among army commanders in Asia, workshops related to the defence industry in ASEAN, as well as the channelling of information on arms among participating nations. Accompanying His Majesty were the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim; the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng; and the Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Datu Singamanteri (Rtd) Colonel Dato Seri Setia Dr Awg Haji Md Yasmin bin Haji Umar as well as other senior government officers. His Majesty consented to depart from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after attending the 14th Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference. Before leaving Shangri-La Hotel, a Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awg Abdul Aziz bin Juned. His Majesty consented to walk through a static guard of honour mounted by the Malaysian Armed Forces. Present at the Subang Military Air Base to bid farewell to His Majesty were the Minister of Defence, Dato' Seri Hishamuddin bin Tun Hussein, Chief of Defence Forces, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin and Senior Officials from the Government of Malaysia. Members of the public advised to use recreational facilities wisely Posted: 14 Apr 2014 10:24 AM PDT BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Members of the public are advised to use recreational facilities provided by the government in the best and most responsible way. The call was made by the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awg Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman when he commented on the recreational parks facilities which the government has increased and upgraded, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported. Yang Berhormat Pehin said the recreational and exercise areas should make it convenient for the visitors to make use of the facilities in a more conducive and safer environment. The minister added the relevant parties, including the Village Consultative Councils should play their roles accordingly. The District Offices and Municipal Boards would always support plans that benefit the public in relation to recreational facilities. Yang Berhormat Pehin made these comments during a working visit to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Park and the Tasek Lama Recreational Park in the capital yesterday morning. During the visit, the Minister also heard briefings on ongoing plans and those still in the planning stages to upgrade the parks' facilities, including the Mangrove Walk. The minister and his party also inspected the new upgraded facilities at the Tasek Lama Recretional Park such as the Pantaran Belukut, the waterfall platform and the Laluan Tiga Jungle Track. The ten hectares Tasek Lama Park is one of the country's main eco-tourism destinations. The Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference was first introduced in 1988. DSA 2014 is a static defence technology and equipment exhibition showcasing latest generic security solutions and armament systems to meet the requirements of the country's security forces and that of the Asia Pacific countries. This year's exhibition will showcase about 1,000 companies from 50 countries. |
