Dams kill promises!

Dams kill promises!

Today, RFS brings you an update on the Penan victims of the Murum Dam. We hear how they are suffering scarcity of basic needs, trapped in their new 'model villages' in the middle of nowhere.   SEB had promised to provide each family RM650 per month (well below the minimum wage). It then turned out this would come partly in the form of  food stuffs and only part in cash.

However, supplies have arrived late and too little the community says, plus the "free electrical supply" has turned out to be an empty promise. Gereng Jadung from Long Tangau, also tells the show that their children have missed school for days because of a damaged road that SEB has yet to repair. The story of Sarawak's dam programmes is littered with broken promises.

And we keep to the subject of education. Edy Noor Reduan from the NGO SAMM, questions our Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to explain his enjoyable five-days golf holiday trip in Dubai at tax payers' expense when he was in fact just attending a 4 hours program at the so-called Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) 2014.

And our veteran commentator, Christina Suntai, examines why the Dayak populations, who are the majority  in Sarawak, are failing to take any leading roles the government in Sarawak.  Is it time for youngsters to learn about the strength of Dayaks unity within the political arena of yesterday years?

Stay tuned and we tell you more.
