Billboards demolition will be coordinated

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin Highways Agency who is authorized controlling billboards said it will coordinate with Public Order Agency about the demolition of billboard at Jalan Veteran intersection of Jalan Gatot Subroto,  Antaranews reported.

Head of Highways Agency Gusti Ridwan Sofyani told reporters in Banjarmasin city hall on Tuesday he did not know if there are dismantling of billboards by the Public Order personnel.

According to him, billboards can be built if comply Perda (local regulation), such as not cause scenic beauty damage, meet the safety criteria, their construction is also adapted to be safe and not harmful.

Over the incident, Ridwan plans to coordinate with the agency to ask for clarity and to know the reasons of dismantling.

Meanwhile, Danton first of Public Order Rizkan Wahyudin explained billboards dismantled because they violated regulation. The baleho measuring approximately 3×2 meters was located in the median, minimum

construction standards and lots of use of trees as a buffer, so it is very risky and harmful collapsed.

He also explained, it has given a warning and give time for three months, but by the billboard owner ignored.

Police foils subsidised feul smuggling

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of South Kalimantan Regional Police has thwarted the smuggling of some 15 tonnes of subsidised diesel, Antaranews reported.

The diesel was to supply Central Kalimantan, Deputy Director of Ditreskrimsus Joko Purwanto said in Banjarmasin, Monday.

He  said police have seized two vehicles on August 13 along the Trans Borneo Road, Trantang area, Sub district Mandastana, Barito Kuala, South Kalimantan.

A suspect has been arrested.

Thousands of tonnes of subsidised feul were believed purchased from various resellers in Banjarbaru at Rp4,800 to Rp5,200 per litre and can be resold at Rp9,800.

According to Joko, the suspect when charged, can be prosecuted under the Law Number 22 Year 2001 on Oil and Gas with a prison term of two years.

Banjarmasin successfully cultivate Haruan Fish

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin City Government through Agriculture and Fisheries Agency has developed Haruan fish (also known as snakehead or mudfish) farming in the location of the demo plots belongs the agency, Antaranews reported.

First harvest of Haruan fish farming conducted by Mayor Haji Muhidin who accompanied by the Head of Agriculture and Fisheries Agency Doyo Pudjadi and several other officials at the harvest location of the
agency on Monday.

Mayor was excited and stated the agency has successfully harvest Haruan fish after trying to cultivate, because haruan is considered difficult to develop through cultivation except catching in nature.

"Thank God, the harvest was good enough haruannya fish production, quite large with only two weights one kilogram, means one fish weighs a half kilogram," he said.

According to him, the species is one of community's favorite, and if the fish consumption only rely arrest in the wild catching it is feared that fish populations will be drastically reduced even feared to be extinct.

Therefore, people should cultivate the fish with guidance on the relevant authorities.

Haruan fish often used as the main menu in Banjar typical dishes, such as grilled fish with vegetables, fried Haruan fish, then for typical local menu such as Laksa, Ketupat Kandangan, and Yellow Rice.
