Promotion of New Officers and Government Personnel

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Department of Public Service, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), hereby announces that His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the appointments of several officers, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

Yang Mulia Awg Hj Abd Manap Othman, Acting Deputy Director-General of Public Service, Department of Public Service, has been promoted and confirmed in the post he has been acting, as Deputy Director-General of Public Service, Department of Public Service. The Promotion commenced on the June 14 2014.

Yang Mulia Awg Hj Osman Hj Md Yussof, Director of Protocol and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has been appointed as Director of Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade with effect from the July 12 2014.

Yang Mulia Pg Suhaimi Pg Hj Bakar, Assistant Director of Estate Planning and Management at the Ministry of Education has been promoted as Director of Co-curriculum Education at the Ministry of Education, commencing on the June 21 2014.

Yang Mulia Pg Hj Mohidin Pg Md Daud, Assistant Director of Building Services at the Public Works Department, has been promoted as Director of Mechanical and Electrical Services at the Public Works Department (JKR / PWD), Ministry of Development, with effect from the June 21, 2014.

Yang Mulia Dyg Hjh Norhayati Orang Kaya Jaya Putera Dato Paduka Awg Hj Md Taha, Assistant Director of the Department of Public Service, has been promoted as Director of Personnel Service at the Department of Public Service, commencing on the June 21 2014.

Monarch Grants Audience to Indonesia’s Youth and Sports Minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to receive in audience the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia who was on a working visit to the country, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

His Majesty consented to receive in audience His Excellency Kanjeng Raden Mas Tumenggung Roy Suryo Notodiprojo at Istana Nurul Iman. Present during the audience were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Nurul Qomar; and Deputy for Harmonisation and Partnerships, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bapak Prof. Dr. Faisal Abdullah.

Also present at the ceremony were the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah; the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Hj Md Juanda Hj Abd Rashid, and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Hj Md Hamid Hj Md Jaafar.

Meanwhile, in another part of the Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam also consented to receive in audience the wife of the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Ibu Ismarindayani Priyanti.

During the audience ceremony, Ibu Ismarindayani Priyanti was accompanied by the wife of the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Ibu Fenty Sutiono.

Also present at the ceremony was the wife of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Hjh Rosnah Pehin Datu Inderasugara Dato Seri Laila Jasa Hj Johari.

HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah Attends ARF & EAS, Among Others

NAY PYI TAW, MYANMAR: His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade with other ASEAN ministers who are attending the Foreign Ministers of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) paid a courtesy call on President U Thein Sein of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar at the Presidential Palace, Nay Pyi Taw, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

At the meeting, His Excellency U Thein Sein expressed his support for constructive discussions that contribute to stability, peace and prosperity in the region and efforts of ARF in building of trust in the Asia and Pacific region and practice of diplomatic approaches.

His Excellency also raised his hopes of fruitful outcomes from the discussions in various fields including diplomatic protection, maintenance of peace, maritime security and energy security.

Part of the itinerary yesterday saw Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade attending the 4th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers' Meeting at the Myanmar International Convention Centre, Nay Pyi Taw.

The meeting discussed the implementation of follow-up programmes of the 8th East Asia Summit held last year and preparations made for the upcoming Summit to be held in Nay Pyi Taw in November. The EAS is a regional leaders' forum for strategic dialogue and cooperation on key challenges facing the East Asian region.

Established in 2005 (EAS) comprises the ten ASEAN countries together with Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Russia.

Later in the afternoon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade attended the 21st ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). Prior to the Retreat Session, ARF Foreign Ministers witnessed the launching Ceremony of the Logo of the ASEAN Regional Forum Disaster Relief Exercises, ARF DiRex 2015.

During the Retreat Session, the ARF Foreign Ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues. Among the goals of the establishment of the ASEAN Regional Forum is to forge constructive dialogue and consultation on political and security issues, apart from giving valuable contribution towards confidence building efforts in the Asia Pacific region.

Meanwhile, during the plenary meeting, the ARF Foreign Ministers reviewed efforts to combat terrorism and transnational crimes. The ministers also unveiled two statements, namely prevention measures, preparations, response and conservation of oil spills as well as cooperation and coordination in the Maritime and Air Search and Rescue Mission.

His Royal Highness also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Papua New Guinea, the Honourable Rimbink Pato.

Royals graced the opening of HBT at National Stadium

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to officially launch the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) for ASEAN Youths Football Tournament 2014 last night at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

Upon arrival at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, His Majesty was greeted by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam. Also welcoming His Majesty were the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Di-Raja Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Hazair and members of the HBT organizing committee.

Also present were His Majesty's princes, princesses and brother, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel, and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah. Shortly after arrival, the National Anthem was played.

His Majesty then consented to declare the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youths Football Tournament 2014 officially opened.

His Majesty was then introduced to the team managers, coaches and team captains. Eleven countries are taking part in the tournament. Group 'A' comprises teams from Timor Leste, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar and Thailand; while Group 'B' consists of teams from Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. His Majesty also consented to present souvenirs to team managers of the participating nations.

His Majesty then consented to receive a Pasambah from the HBT 2014 Organising Committee. The Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy Football Tournament is jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD).

The Official Launching Ceremony was followed by a Group B match between Host, Brunei Darussalam and Cambodia.

Monarch underscores the significance of ASEAN Community Building

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in his titah underscored the importance of the ASEAN community building work while injecting new momentum to honour all the commitments ASEAN has made that need to be implemented by the end of 2015, Brudirect reported.

His Majesty made the titah in a message in conjunction with the ASEAN Day 2014.

In the message, His Majesty highlighted that ASEAN supports all that Myanmar is doing as ASEAN Chairman for 2014, under the theme, 'Moving Forward in Unity to a Peaceful and Prosperous Community'. His Majesty agreed that it made clear that members working together must cover the needs of the region and be meaningful to the people.

The ASEAN leaders, said the Monarch, recognize that they should do more to nurture an 'ASEAN Mindset' and develop a sense of regional belonging in their peoples. Foremost in the leaders' thoughts now is the future beyond 2015. In this regard, stressed His Majesty, ASEAN countries are beginning to make plans that will help the ASEAN Community thrive.

His Majesty added, the process will be an inclusive one that incorporates aspirations of the ASEAN people, while working together with their dialogue partners. His Majesty hoped that as a community of Southeast Asian nations, ASEAN continues to see strong neighbourly relations, closer friendship and cooperation, so that peace and prosperity are shared by all. In ending the message, His Majesty wishes all ASEAN friends and partners a very happy ASEAN Day.

Monarch grants audience to Thai General

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence Minister and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday consented to receive in audience Chief of Defence Force of Royal Thai Armed Forces, His Excellency General Tanasak Patimapragorn, who is in a working visit to the country, Brudirect reported.

The audience ceremony took place at the Istana Nurul Iman.

During the audience ceremony, the Monarch consented to confer a state decoration, "Darjah Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang Yang Amat Gemilang Darjah Pertama" – DPKT to His Excellency the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces which carries the title: 'Dato Paduka Seri'.

Present during the audience were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Aprichart Phetcharatana, and the Deputy Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, Air Marshall Adisak Klansnoh.

Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat; the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Md Tawih Abdullah; the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Paduka Hj Hamdan Hj Abu Bakar and the Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Ministry of Defence, Colonel (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Azmansham Pg Hj Mohamad.

During the audience ceremony, Datin Penlaksana Patimapragorn was accompanied by the wife of the Deputy Chief of Defence Force, Royal Thai Armed Force, Mrs. Adom Klansnoh and the wife of the Deputy Head of Mission, Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, Mrs. Siriporn Thaitrong. Also present at the ceremony was the wife of the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Datin Zulia Basman.
