High level task force to bolster ASEAN economic environment

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: ASEAN ministers attending the unofficial Meeting of the 8th ASEAN ministers on Science and Technology in Bogor, Indonesia had discussed issues recommended by the 68th ASEAN Committee on Science and Technology (COST), Brudirect reported.

Among them, the ministers support on the proposal for High Level Task Force (HLTF) to strengthen the ASEAN Secretariat and review the ASEAN Organ working process and noted the proposal for the ASEAN Economic Community, AEC 2015.

The country's representative to the meeting was led by the Minister of Development, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Suyoi Hj Osman. During the meeting, the ministers also noted the status of the ASEAN Science Fund, ASF and approved the amendment proposal to the ASF Guideline so that the initiative will focus on the innovations that can be funded.

The ministers also appreciate Indonesia for successfully staged a number of events in conjunction with the 9th ASEAN Science Technology Week. Brunei Darussalam also take part in the exhibition which among others focused on research, facilities and research scholarship offered by University Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

Monarch congratulates Thais’ new Prime Minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and the Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to send a message of congratulation to His Excellency General Prayuth Chan-Ocha following his recent appointment as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Brudirect reported.

In the message, His Majesty extends his warmest congratulations to His Excellency on his appointment as Prime Minister.

The Monarch also wishes His Excellency much success and looks forward to working with His Excellency in enhancing the warm friendship and close cooperation between the two countries.

In ending his message, His Majesty extends his kindest regards to His Excellency General Prayuth Chan-Ocha.
